The Green Bay Packers are currently one of six 6-7 squads in the NFC. At the moment, they hold the seventh seed in the conference, but they could very well need some help from other NFC teams if they end up dropping a game or two in the final four weeks of the season.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the current NFC standings and which games have the most influence on the Packers’ potential playoff future. In general, you’re rooting against other NFC teams “in the hunt,” but let’s get into all the nitty-gritty of the playoff race.

NFC Standings

  1. San Francisco 49ers: 10-3
  2. Dallas Cowboys: 10-3
  3. Detroit Lions: 9-4
  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 6-7
  5. Philadelphia Eagles: 10-3
  6. Minnesota Vikings: 7-6
  7. Green Bay Packers: 6-7
  8. Los Angeles Rams: 6-7
  9. Seattle Seahawks: 6-7
  10. Atlanta Falcons: 6-7
  11. New Orleans Saints: 6-7
  12. New York Giants: 5-8
  13. Chicago Bears: 5-8
  14. Washington Commanders: 4-9
  15. Arizona Cardinals: 3-10
  16. Carolina Panthers: 1-12

Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Green Bay Packers

Who to root for: Packers

This could probably go without an explanation, but the Packers need to win at least three of their next four games to ensure that they’ll make the postseason. With a win, Green Bay would rise to a 64 percent chance, per the New York Times’ playoff machine, to make the playoffs. With a loss, they would drop down to 25 percent.

Washington Commanders @ Los Angeles Rams

Who to root for: Commanders

These two games are easily the most important non-Packers games for Green Bay’s playoff situation. The Seahawks and Rams are both still in the mix in the wildcard. You want them to lose.

If we’re talking about playoff leverage, meaning the difference in the Packers’ playoff percentage depending on the result, the Seahawks game would swing Green Bay’s odds by seven percent and the Rams game would swing Green Bay’s odds by five percent. That extra 12 percent could go a long way for the Packers, especially if they only finish 2-2 in their final four games.

Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers

Who to root for: Panthers

Chicago Bears @ Cleveland Browns

Who to root for: Browns

Minnesota Vikings @ Cincinnati Bengals

Who to root for: Bengals

Denver Broncos @ Detroit Lions

Who to root for: Broncos

New York Giants @ New Orleans Saints

Who to root for: Giants

All of these games slightly impact the Packers’ playoff chances. A Panthers win would increase Green Bay’s postseason odds by three percent. A Browns win would increase it by two percent, and the rest of these games are only worth about a one percent difference. Don’t forget, Vikings @ Bengals and Broncos @ Lions are both happening on Saturday, as the NFL has spread out its schedule with the college football regular season officially over.
