Player Prop Bets vs Vikings: Matchup 2 Electric Boogaloo

Joe Barry’s defense is worse than Breakin 2. Bet the overs

NFL: Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The time is finally here for the primetime matchup of the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings. The tilt takes place this New Year’s Eve and, much like the holiday itself, is expected to be a matchup that lasts until the final 10 seconds, when millions will be let down by their expectations.

Joe Barry remains as Green Bay’s defensive coordinator and Jaire Alexander is suspended. So what does that mean? That means just about every Vikings player prop bet over at DraftKings should be looked at and over-considered. Let’s look at a few specifics, though.

Bet 1: Justin Jefferson OVER 80.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards (-115)

Look...we all saw this coming. I don’t care if there’s a JUGS machine set to throw changeup pop flies playing quarterback for the Vikings, expect Jefferson to catch 6 balls for 100 yards.

The interesting wrinkle here is Jefferson has 0 rushing attempts so far this season while having 11 over his previous 3. It’s not guaranteed he breaks this year’s streak in this game but the line for Rushing + Receiving is the exact same yardage number and odds as just Receiving. Should he be given an end-around handoff by Jaren Hall that goes for 15 yards and a touchdown, you can at least take solace in Joe Barry’s failure knowing that you hedged against it.

Bet 2: Jaren Hall OVER 228.5 Passing Yards (-115)

Speaking of Jaren Hall, I have no idea where this over/under number comes from when you have a QB who has thrown 10 passes in the NFL for 100 yards. Oh wait, yes I do. It’s likely due to the cavalcade of quarterback mediocrity that immediately gets transformed into a stat-padding version of Drew Brees in the presence of the Packers’ defense.

Jaren Hall averaged 264 yards per game in his final year of college football. He was playing behind an offensive line full of 25-year-old grown men that so dominates against lesser teams rostering children that Zach Wilson went second overall. He was taken in the 5th round after a 25-year-old and injured Hendon Hooker. Teams thought he was two rounds WORSE than a guy who’s the same age and has one functional knee.

Expect big things.

Bet 3: Jaren Hall OVER 26.5 Rushing Yards (-130)

Jaren Hall is scarily similar to Tommy DeVito as an athlete. Bet this over, too.

The game kicks off at 7:20 central time and should be over just in time to ruin the New Year's Eve party you no longer feel like attending.

Bet the over. Happy New Year.
