Packers fans are absolutely riding high right now. If they aren’t excited about the team’s recent winning streak, the tears of NFC North fans exclaiming, “I can’t believe they found a quarterback again,” should keep you going through the end of the season. With that in mind, let’s look at some snapshots that measure fan expectations going into Week 14.
For the second straight week, the national fans have voted that the Green Bay Packers’ win was the biggest surprise of the week. Thankfully, the Packers are starting to come out on the right side of these surprises, as they’ve been able to win four of their last five games. Barring a stretch of major surprises to end the season, Green Bay should be a playoff team this year.
National fans are picking the Packers to win their upcoming ballgame for the first time in weeks. On Monday Night Football, Green Bay will take on the New York Giants, who are currently 6.5-point underdogs after opening up as 6-point dogs at home.
Fan confidence is at an all-time high. After dipping below 25 percent during the second quartile of the season, faith in the organization has slowly built up during quarterback Jordan Love’s hot streak, in which he’s thrown 11 touchdowns to just two interceptions over the last five games. Don’t expect there to be any major changes in Green Bay this season, as it’s doubtful that president and CEO Mark Murphy will want to rock the boat during his final year in the position.
As many of you pointed out, the Packers can’t actually extend Jordan Love until May, due to NFL rules. Once May does come around, though, nearly three-quarters of you want to see a new deal inked for Green Bay’s quarterback. An extension will likely come with the equivalent of three years of guarantees, which seems like a fair bet on the young passer after he’s shown real flashes of high-level play over the last month or so.
Over half of you think that the Packers will be the favorites to win the division next season, which I think is an accurate number. Going into 2024, I believe the playoff conversation will revolve around the Packers and the Lions, with the Vikings and Bears looking to rebuild.
The Packers’ next three games are against the Giants, the Buccaneers and the Panthers. Nearly three-quarters of you think Green Bay goes 3-0 during that stretch and don’t lose another game until at least Week 17. For perspective, the New York Times’ playoff machine gives the Packers a 95 percent chance to make the playoffs if they are 9-6 going into Week 17.
