How to watch Packers vs. Cowboys on Wild Card Sunday: TV channel, odds, & more

After a one-year absence, the Packers are back in the postseason. Here’s how and when to tune in for Jordan Love’s first playoff game.

Playoff football is almost here, and the Green Bay Packers are back in the postseason after a one-year break in 2022. This season’s Packers team went on a 6-2 run in the final eight games, turning around a 3-6 record to finish out the year 9-8 and earn the NFC’s seventh and final postseason berth.

That’s not bad for the youngest team in the NFL.

This Sunday afternoon’s game will be the first postseason contest for the Packers’ 28 first- or second-year players, not to mention quarterback Jordan Love. Another three more veteran players have not suited up for a playoff game, as Jonathan Owens, Corey Ballentine, and Robert Rochell are all expected to make their postseason debuts. That means that just 22 of the members of Green Bay’s 53-man roster have ever suited up for an NFL playoff game.

Facing Green Bay on the other sideline is head coach Matt LaFleur’s predecessor, Mike McCarthy. How the head man for the Dallas Cowboys, McCarthy was fired late in the 2018 season, leading to LaFleur’s hiring several weeks later. Just three members of the active roster were in Green Bay during McCarthy’s tenure: Kenny Clark, Jaire Alexander, and Aaron Jones (though David Bakhtiari, on injured reserve, did spend six years playing under him).

Those storylines — youth and inexperience, plus the McCarthy factor — should dominate the broadcast on Sunday when the Packers and Cowboys square off for the ninth postseason game in their shared histories. The record is one of streaks; the Packers won back-to-back NFL Championship Games in 1966 and 1967, Dallas won four straight during the 1980s and ‘90s, and Green Bay has taken the last two, both Divisional Round games in 2014 and 2016 (with McCarthy coaching the green and gold).

Which team will break that tie? Can this young Packers squad find a way to become the first #7 seed to win a Wild Card game since the playoffs expanded in 2021? Here’s how and when to tune in and find out.
