Wednesday Cheese Curds: The Packers are working toward ‘completeness’

The Packers are looking to build on one of their most complete wins of 2023.

“Completeness” is an overrated concept in football. “Complete” wins don’t count any more than incomplete ones. Incomplete — or flawed or whatever — teams can still win a lot of games, even championships.

But playing what passes for a complete game, and how frequently you’re able to do it, is a reasonably good indicator of where a team is headed. That the Packers were able to put together one of their best full-team performances in a key moment against a divisional opponent seems like a good data point as to exactly what kind of team these young Packers can be.

The trick with completeness, or even for an incomplete team that’s still winning games, is to do it consistently. That’s what the Packers need to do next; completeness is great, but consistent performances building on a solid foundation are better. Hopefully they can continue their growth as they approach a crucial Week 18 matchup.
