Today, the Green Bay Packers have a chance to do something that the team did not accomplish in Brett Favre’s or Aaron Rodgers’ first seasons as the starting quarterback: making the playoffs. For Jordan Love and the Packers, the equation today is simple: beat the Chicago Bears at home in the final game of the regular season and advance to the postseason.
A win today would also give the Packers a winning record, and it could send them into the playoffs as high as the 6th seed in the NFC, depending on the result of this afternoon’s Rams-49ers contest. But beating this Chicago team, which has been on the upswing of late, will be no easy feat.
Chicago enters as the winners of five of their last seven games, and they now are just one game behind the Packers with a 7-9 record. However, Chicago has gone 1-2 in that stretch against teams that currently hold winning records, splitting their season series with the Detroit Lions and falling to the Cleveland Browns. In the meantime, their other wins have been over teams like the Panthers, Falcons, Cardinals, and Vikings, all teams with significant issues.
Thanks largely to their home-field advantage, the Packers are three-point favorites in this game. The Packers also did their job in week one when these two teams first met, dominating the Bears en route to a 38-20 victory. Join us this afternoon as we cheer the Packers on look for another game next week.
