Wednesday Cheese Curds: Packers wide receivers are ready for more growth

The Packers don’t have a single top receiver, but their young crew is full of talented options.

NFL: Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers Wm. Glasheen-USA TODAY Sports

The Packers find themselves in a fairly unique situation at wide receiver. Not only are all their receivers young, but most, if not all of them, still seem to be on the upswing in their career.

Despite a broadly successful 2023 as a unit, the Packers’ wide receivers still seem to have a lot of untapped potential and a lot of growing to do. Part of the reason they don’t have a clear top receiver (as discussed in our first link today) is because none of them have been in the league long enough to really distinguish themselves. We don’t know where the ceiling is for most of these players because none of them have been able to show us how close they are to reaching theirs.

That’s only a problem if you want it to be, and the Packers certainly don’t. They’re in the best position they can be right now: they can wait to see who takes the reins naturally and let the rest of the receiver room fall in line behind them. And if everybody grows together over the course of the season such that they still don’t have a top dog by the end of the year? Well, that’s just a bonus.
