APC Podcast, Divisional Playoff Preview: We’re overflowing with Packers optimism

At the risk of a jinx, the podcast crew are extremely bullish on the Packers beating the Rams.

Super Wild Card Weekend (patent pending) has come and gone, but was it really so super? And who named this thing anyway? Months of lead time and this was the best they could come up with? And Nickelodeon? I digress. What’s important is that the results of last weekend mean the Green Bay Packers are set to host the Los Angeles Rams this Saturday afternoon at Lambeau Field.

The Rams are hot off a relatively convincing win over the Seattle Seahawks, who sputtered to an uninspiring, often hard-to-watch end to their season. While this was technically an “upset” according to the desert people, the pod crew believes this loss had more to do with Seattle falling apart than it did the Rams rising to the occasion.

Case in point, starter-turned-backup-turned-starter Jared Goff completed less than half of his passes in relief of the injured John Wolford last week, logging just 155 yards and 1 touchdown. Goff, who has 0 TD’s and 5 INT’s in his two sub-freezing-temperature starts, is still recovering from a thumb injury. Meanwhile, talented wide receiver Cooper Kupp hasn’t practiced all week with a knee contusion.

On the defense, lots of airtime will be given to the Davante Adams vs. Jalen Ramsey storyline, but it’s Aaron Donald who we’ll be paying attention to — he enters this game with torn rib cartilage, which sounds, you know, not good.

Is it hubris that we feel so confident in the Packers’ chances here? Are we jinxing things with our boastfulness? Will Al Michaels take the over or the under? Tune in to find out! Hit play on the audio widget at the top of this screen or click this link.
