Packers Training Camp 2014: Practice #9 Updates and Open Thread

The Packers shift back to mid-day practices today as they start preparing for their first preseason game.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

In a little over four days, the Green Bay Packers will finally take the field in a real football game for the first time since early January. Sure, it's technically only a preseason game against the Tennessee Titans, but it's still football with real pads and real tackling.

Of course, that's when the real player evaluation will begin. Making splash plays in practice is one thing, but that needs to translate to real game action before anything can really be taken too seriously. However, practice is all we have to go on for the time being, and we have another public practice session taking place today at noon to follow.

Follow we shall. Here's our normal list of reporters and beat writers from practice, who will be keeping us updated on the events of practice. With both Morgan Burnett and Brad Jones unable to finish practice on Monday evening, their availability will be something we'll watch closely today. If they can't go, that should provide some valuable reps for young players at the safety and inside linebacker positions.

Enjoy, discuss, and join us back again later this afternoon for our notebook and recap of Mike McCarthy's daily press conference.
