Combine OL Workout Results: Keep an eye on Boise State OT Ezra Cleveland

The 2020 Combine featured a few particularly athletic offensive linemen, including tremendous numbers from one player projected in the middle rounds.

The 2020 NFL Scouting Combine has come and gone, and with the event concluded, those who follow the league are left to sort through the numbers. One of the toughest positions to judge athleticism based on the drills is offensive line, where size differences can mask relative athletic ability.

When it came to the workout results for the offensive linemen, however, nobody was better than Ezra Cleveland, a tackle from Boise State. The redshirt junior started all but one game in his three years of eligibility, first at right tackle in 2017 before moving to left tackle in his final two seasons.

The 6-foot-6, 311-pound Cleveland blew was the standout player at his position in Friday’s workouts, posting agility times that would put him in good company with some of the tight ends in the 2020 NFL Draft class. He also touched 30 inches on the vertical jump and broke the five-second mark in the 40-yard dash, recording an official time of 4.93. Look for Cleveland to start flying up draft boards this week, as he is even earning some mentions as a fringe first-rounder now.

Meanwhile, massive human Mekhi Becton posted an incredible time of 5.10 seconds in the 40, doing so at 6-foot-7 and almost 360 pounds. Becton did pull out of further testing after his second run, however, after seemingly aggravating a hamstring.

Finally, the other big winner among the linemen was Iowa’s Tristan Wirfs. At 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, Wirfs paced the field with a stellar 4.85-second 40, then demonstrate elite explosiveness with a 36.5-inch vertical and a 10-foot-1 broad jump. Both of those numbers are among the all-time best for linemen in Indianapolis, and Wirfs solidified himself as a likely early first-round pick.

Here are the full testing numbers for all of the offensive linemen.
