Ted Thompson has finally lived up to his "Trader Ted" reputation for the first time since 2013. The Green Bay Packers traded up to the 147th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft and have selected:
Brett Hundley, quarterback, UCLA
Hundley stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 226 pounds. He is an athletic player, running the 40-yard dash at 4.63 seconds at the 2015 Scouting Combine. He also had excellent times in the 3-cone drill (6.93 seconds) and the short shuttle (3.98 seconds).
Apparently Mike McCarthy has his backup quarterback project. Hundley has widely been viewed as a high-risk, high-reward prospect, whose inconsistency is a maddening trait.
As a three-year starter, Hundley threw for over 3,000 yards and more than 20 touchdowns in each season. He finished his career with 9,966 passing yards with a 67.6 completion percentage, 75 touchdown passes, and 25 interceptions. Hundley is also a running threat as well, with 1,747 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns on the ground in his college career.
The Packers gave up their seventh-round pick (#247) and their fifth-round pick to move up for Hundley.
More details to come.
