Round one is behind us, and Green Bay Packers fans seem to hold mixed feelings about their team’s first two selections. The Packers put a premium on youth and athletic ability again on Thursday night, selecting Michigan edge rusher Rashan Gary with the 12th overall pick and trading up from 30 to 21 for Maryland safety Darnell Savage, Jr.
Both players are just 21 years old and both are exceptional athletes at their positions, so the picks make sense. Furthermore, both are versatile players, capable of lining up in multiple different spots. The challenge now is for Mike Pettine and his defensive coaching staff to figure out how and where to play them.
As round two begins, the team’s focus will likely shift over to the offense. There are several talented pass-catchers and offensive linemen available, which could benefit the Packers. As Green Bay had on Thursday, they have two picks again tonight, so tune in and join APC as we follow along all evening.
