FINALLY.

Perhaps it’s the COVID-19 lockdowns affecting us, but it seems that this year’s waiting period for the NFL Draft has been longer than in years past. That’s strange, too, because this year’s draft actually falls a bit earlier in the year than usual, with April 23rd being one of the soonest start dates in recent years.

In any case, the draft is completely and totally virtual this year, with coaches, executives, and general managers all calling in from home. The event is sure to have a couple of hiccups early — that was certainly the case in the league’s test draft on Monday — but hopefully the mechanics of the event will go off smoothly once everyone settles in.

The Green Bay Packers currently sit with the 30th pick in the draft’s first round, putting them on the clock near the end of the night. However, Brian Gutekunst has said he is more than willing to move to find the right value, so get on your toes once we get into the late teens, as that is where the trade up values might start to work out.

We at Acme Packing Company are hunkering down in our respective war rooms, many of which you can see this evening. Starting at 7:30 PM Eastern — a half-hour before the draft begins — APC will host our first-ever NFL Draft Watch Party, hosted by Tex Western and Paul Noonan. Give this page a refresh around that time to see us break down all of the first-round selections and trades, in addition to finding out what kind of beer and bourbon are filling up our refrigerators and cabinets.

Also here in this post will be the results of round one, updating live, plus Twitter commentary from the entire APC writing family. So keep it here at APC Draft Central and enjoy round one!
