Packers Week 1 Injury Report: Billy Turner doubtful, Raven Greene questionable

Billy Turner will be doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, according to Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.

Turner is the presumed starter at right tackle, though LaFleur has not formally revealed who he’ll be putting at that spot on Sunday. 2020 free-agent acquisition Rick Wagner is currently the top backup, but LaFleur has hinted that it’s at least possible the Packers could go a different direction, potentially putting one of their guards at tackle.

Lane Taylor started for the Packers at left tackle in 2017, while Elgton Jenkins played some tackle in college. Sliding either of them outside would obviously weaken a second spot on the line, though, and LaFleur may be understandably reluctant to do that.

The Packers will likely end up giving their right tackle plenty of help this week, whoever he ends up being. Newly minted Vikings end Yannick Ngakoue has reportedly been practicing primarily on the left side, putting the Packers on the spot to defend the Vikings’ newest and biggest offseason addition.

Joining Turner with the Doubtful designation is defensive lineman Montravius Adams, who was limited in practice all week. The Packers could elect to bring up one of their two practice squad defensive linemen on game day, as teams will be able to designate two such players as game-eligible on Saturday.

The Packers’ two primary options at inside linebacker next to Christian Kirksey appear on track to play this Sunday, however. Oren Burks appears to have a clean bill of health, as he was a full participant in practice over the past two days and carries no injury designation. Meanwhile, safety Raven Greene — who excelled as the dime linebacker in brief action last season — was limited all week but carries the questionable tag.

The only player listed as out for the Packers is outside linebacker Randy Ramsey. With him sitting, expect the team to use seventh-round rookie Jonathan Garvin as the fourth option on the edge behind the Smith Brothers and Rashan Gary.
