Billy Turner headlines the Packers’ first injury report of 2020

The Packers have listed five players on their first injury report of the 2020 season, four of whom play on defense

Offensive lineman Billy Turner headlines the list. Currently listed as the Packers’ starting right tackle, Turner battled knee issues during the latter part of training camp and could miss the Packers’ Week 1 contest. He did not participate in practice today. Edge rusher Randy Ramsey, who has a groin injury, was likewise held out of practice.

Meanwhile, defensive lineman Montravius Adams, linebacker Oren Burks, and safety Raven Greene were all limited, potentially creating some layered issues for the Packers. Should Adams not be in uniform Sunday, the Packers would only have four defensive linemen available against the run-heavy Vikings. That could force them to move either Za’Darius Smith or Rashan Gary to a more line-oriented role for this week.

Burks, the anointed starter next to Christian Kirksey, could also cause some issues if he can’t go. With 2020 fifth-round pick Kamal Martin already on injured reserve, the Packers only have Kirksey, Burks, and 2019 seventh-rounder Ty Summers available at that spot. Typically, if the Packers are light on linebackers, defensive coordinator Mike Pettine fills that job with safeties. That move is often his preference with or without healthy linebackers, but Greene is his presumptive top choice there, and with Greene hurting it’s harder to find a hybrid option.

Still, Adams, Burks, and Greene were only limited for practice, leaving them in good shape to participate on Sunday.
