Wednesday injury report shows Packers are getting healthy for Buccaneers after bye

Green Bay looks to have a few of its injured stars back in time for Sunday’s game in Tampa.

It’s impressive what a week off does for a football team’s health. The Green Bay Packers were a banged-up football team coming out of week four’s Monday night victory over Atlanta, with several key players sitting out that contest due to injury. But thankfully, as practice continues on this week and the team releases its first injury report on Wednesday, there’s plenty of good news to be found.

Davante Adams, the team’s star wide receiver, appears on track to play after missing two games with a hamstring injury. Adams was a full participant in practice today, a great sign for his availability this coming Sunday.

Likewise, Kenny Clark seems like he will be back after injuring his groin in week one. The stalwart defensive tackle was on the field for 84 percent of the Packers’ defensive snaps a year ago, but has taken the field for just 15 plays this season before bowing out of the opener. As a limited participant in practice all week heading into the Atlanta game and a full participant on Wednesday, look for him to take the field on Sunday afternoon in Tampa.

Also seeing an encouraging sign for his return is second-year edge rusher Rashan Gary, who missed week four with an ankle issue. Gary has 1.5 sacks so far this year while playing as the third man in the edge rotation, and his return would give the Packers a boost behind the Smith Brothers. Gary was back at practice, though in a limited capacity, on Wednesday.

The Buccaneers, meanwhile, saw two critical players miss practice on Wednesday. Cornerback Carlton Davis has been excellent this season, with three interceptions on the year, while wide receiver Mike Evans remains one of the league’s better wide receivers. Both of those players were non-participants today.

Stay tuned for more practice updates on Thursday.
