NFL Franchise Tag 2016: Tag amounts and reports of players receiving tags

The numbers for the Franchise and Transition Tags are now confirmed, and we'll bring you all the news of any players tagged here.

Reports are starting to roll in of NFL teams applying (or planning to apply) the Franchise or Transition Tag on players who will soon be unrestricted free agents. Furthermore, on Monday morning the NFLPA confirmed the values of each of the tags for each position, when they confirmed the salary cap's value of $155.27 million for the 2016 season.

So far, there are only a handful of teams which have confirmed that they will be using the tag on a specific player. Those teams are below:

Franchise Tags

Transition Tag

Stay tuned to this page, as we will continue to update it with reports of any other tags that are applied. The deadline to apply franchise tags is March 1st at 4:00 PM Eastern Time, so tags should start rolling in quickly. It is possible that with the tag amounts unconfirmed until just recently and the NFL Scouting Combine wrapping up, teams have been hesitant to make those decisions but will do so over the next 24-plus hours.

The Green Bay Packers are unlikely to use a tag on any free agent. The only feasible player who may get tagged would be kicker Mason Crosby, though it seems likely the team would be able to retain him for less money than the tag values anyway.
