This morning, the Green Bay Packers reported for training camp. The long wait of summer is finally over, and players will take their physical exams today before taking to the practice field for the first time tomorrow at 8:20 AM Central time. Mike McCarthy will kick off camp with a press conference at 10 AM Central time this morning and we will be off and running!
Now you may be wondering about some of the details of camp, and that's what we are here for. Here are the most important things you need to know about the Packers' 2013 training camp.
When?
July 25th through August 29th
Training camp officially began this morning, when players reported to the team for their physical exams. The first practice will take place tomorrow, July 26th, at 8:20 AM Central Time.
The Packers' full training camp practice schedule (as of this point in time) can be found here.
Where?
Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Practices will be held at Ray Nitschke Field, across the street from Lambeau Field and the Resch Center. If there is inclement weather, practice will be moved to the indoor field at the Don Hutson Center and will likely be closed to the public.
The Packers players will be staying in the dormitories at St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, which is a few miles from Lambeau Field.
Who?
The 88 players currently on the Packers' 90-man roster, along with the coaching staff and front office.
How Can I Be Involved?
Just show up.
Any practices that are held outdoors will be open to the public. Bleachers are set up around Ray Nitschke Field, and there are standing room only areas as well.
As is tradition, the Packers players will ride the bikes of children in attendance from the Oneida Gate at Lambeau Field over to the practice field and back.
