Packers Training Camp 2015: Practice updates for Thursday, August 6

With the Packers back on the field Thursday, we're following along with practice once again.

Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

After an off day on Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers take the field again today for their third practice this week. The team will be wearing full pads once again today, making it the fourth practice in a row with full equipment.

Today, we will continue to monitor the inside linebacker position, as the rotation of players next to Sam Barrington has left quite a bit to be desired so far. Nobody has taken hold of the position with Clay Matthews resting his sore knee, and that could be a problem when Dom Capers keeps him on the outside to rush the passer this season. Hopefully Mike McCarthy gets his wish that the players can develop to the point where they no longer need to think about their assignments and can just execute them.

We'll also be curious to watch the special teams units, as play there often is the gateway to the roster for young players towards the bottom of the roster. For example, rookie corner LaDarius Gunter has impressed on defense so far, but second-year player Demetri Goodson still appears to be ahead of him on kick and punt coverage teams. That battle could end up deciding the final cornerback roster spot.

Keep up with practice here, and discuss in the comments!
