Packers Training Camp 2019: July 26 practice news and updates

Ready for day two?

NFL: Green Bay Packers-Training Camp Benny Sieu-USA TODAY Sports

Day one of the Green Bay Packers’ training camp has come and gone, and we learned a tiny bit about the team’s plans for the next few weeks.

For now, Raven Greene is the second-string safety behind Darnell Savage. While the rookie sat out, still recovering from having his wisdom teeth removed, Greene lined up with Adrian Amos and the rest the starters at Savage’s safety position. Meanwhile, fellow safety Josh Jones, who was participating in his first practice of 2019, got some work as the first-string nickel linebacker next to Blake Martinez.

Meanwhile, Matt LaFleur appears to be pushing the Packers at a faster tempo than Mike McCarthy did in practices. Units are getting to the line of scrimmage quicker and moving from drill to drill with less of a break than they used to get under the former head coach. This may be an effort to get the team to play and think faster when games come along.

Other than that, there was little to be gleaned from day one, which saw the players take the field in shorts and helmets. The same will be the case on Friday, as the Packers suit up once again for a 10:15 AM start. Follow along with APC here and enjoy your first Friday of football season!
