It's back!

That's right, everyone. It's time for a whole lot of foolishness and absurdity as we recap the Green Bay Packers' 42-10 win over the Minnesota Vikings in GIF form.

PREGAME

First off, thanks to the good sports over at the Daily Norseman, Ted and Eric in particular. I think we can all agree that interactions were largely positive and we had a good time leading up to the game.

FIRST HALF

After kickoff, the Packers and Vikings trade punts to start the game. Eddie Lacy goes nuts on the second drive, though. He breaks out runs of 18 and 29 yards on the first two plays, which has all of us feeling like Lacy's announcing to the world...

Meanwhile, we imagine Vikings fans are like

Yeah, pretty much. After a punt on the next Vikings drive, Aaron Rodgers hooks up with Jordy Nelson on a 66-yard play action bomb to take a 14-0 lead. We're all thinking "DAT PASS" and looking like this:

After that, both teams trade three-and-outs and punts for a while. Nothing to see here, until Julius Peppers does this to a Christian Ponder pass:

SECOND HALF

On the Packers' first drive, Lacy scores from 11 yards out, and we have all become comfortably numb. Or so we thought - on the next drive, Lacy and Starks do all the heavy lifting, including Lacy rumbling for a score to make it 42-0. Here's the video of Eddie Lacy's second touchdown, during which he destroys safety Robert Blanton on his way to the end zone:

After the third drive of the game, the result was never in doubt as the Packers got on the board early and often in the first half on the way to a big win over their NFC North rival on Thursday.

On Thursday night in the rain, the Green Bay Packers came out swinging on both sides of the ball and re-established the running game on offense as they steamrolled the Minnesota Vikings by a score of 42-10. Aaron Rodgers threw for three scores to three different wideouts, while Eddie Lacy had his first 100-yard day of the year and added two scores of his own in the blowout.

The defense got into the act as well, as Packers linebacker Julius Peppers returned an interception for a touchdown and the team forced three total turnovers in a dominating performance in bad weather.

FIRST QUARTER

The Packers received in the first quarter, but went three and out on the first drive. The defense did their job on their first opportunity though, returning the favor to Christian Ponder and company.

On the Packers' second drive of the night, Eddie Lacy broke out. He took the first two plays up the middle for carries of 17 and 29 yards, setting up an eight-yard touchdown pass to Randall Cobb, who beat Captain Munnerlyn to the corner of the end zone. That score gave the Packers a quick 7-0 lead.

After a short drive by the Vikings stalled out at their own 40, the Packers got the ball for the third time, and Jordy Nelson struck. James Starks got a few carries and picked up a handful of yards, but it was Nelson with the big play. Off play-action, Rodgers found a wide-open Nelson 45 yards downfield, and he took the ball the rest of the way for a 66-yard score and a 14-0 lead.

Both teams traded punts through the end of the first quarter...

SECOND QUARTER

...and through much of the second quarter as well. UNTIL THIS HAPPENED.

Julius Peppers picked off a Christian Ponder pass after Ponder was hit by Luther Robinson, and the veteran pass-rusher rumbled 49 yards for a score to put the Packers up by a score of 21-0. We got to see a bizarre sight for Packers fans - Julius Peppers doing a Lambeau Leap.

Then on Ponder's very next pass, Jamari Lattimore picked him off once again at the 20-yard line. A few plays later, an 11-yard slant by Davante Adams turned into an easy Rodgers touchdown pass, Adams' first Lambeau Leap, and a 28-0 Packers lead.

Shortly before halftime, Morgan Burnett stripped Matt Asiata of the football after a nice run, and when Casey Hayward pounced on the ball, the Packers had possession once again with three minutes to go but were forced to punt one more time. The Vikings then ran out the clock on the half.

THIRD QUARTER

To start the second half, the Vikings went three and out, helped out by a Peppers/A.J. Hawk sack on third down. The ensuing drive saw a big pass play to Randall Cobb, a pass interference penalty on the Vikings, and a few nice Eddie Lacy runs, and number 27 rumbled into the end zone on a cutback from 11 yards out to put the Packers up 35-0.

It was another three and out and the Packers got possession once again. Eddie Lacy combined with James Starks on the drive and Lacy finished it out once again, running through arm tackles and bulldozing over Vikings safety Robert Blanton on his way to the end zone and his second score of the night. Here's a look at the hit:

That made the score 42-0.

The Vikings got a long drive going for the first time in the game late in the third. Aided by a good kickoff return and a few decent Ponder passes, Minnesota drove down to the Packers' six-yard line as the quarter ended.

FOURTH QUARTER

On the first play of the fourth, Ponder felt pressure and scrambled up the middle for a touchdown, the Vikings' first points of the game, which cut the Packers lead to...42-7.

The Packers would bring in some backups on offense, including quarterback Matt Flynn. Flynn made the first substantial mistake of the game for the Packers, throwing an unwise pass to James Starks that was picked off by safety Harrison Smith in Packers territory. The Vikings moved the ball inside the ten, but a sack by Letroy Guion on third down brought out the field goal unit (for some strange reason) and Blair Walsh made it a 42-10 game.

Late in the game, Packers wideout Jeff Janis recorded his first NFL receptions, converting a pair of third downs on throws from Matt Flynn, and the Vikings couldn't convert a late fourth-and-goal, as the Packers held on for the 42-10 final score.

On the day, Aaron Rodgers completed 12 passes on just 17 attempts for 153 yards, but had those three touchdowns. Lacy led the way with 13 carries for 105 yards and two scores.

The Packers move to 3-2 on the season, while the Vikings fall to 2-3.

Things have gotten ugly inside Lambeau Field as the Packers lead the Vikings 28-0 nothing at halftime.

The Minnesota Vikings haven't had any response to Green Bay's output in the first half inside a wet Lambeau Field tonight. The Packers currently lead the Vikings 28-0 after the first half. As you get set to watch the second part of tonight's game, look over the good, bad and the ugly from the game so far.

Good

Offensive balance

The Packers have split carries between Eddie Lacy and James Starks in the backfield so far, rotating them on drives. Lacy has 59 yards on the ground as of right now, which is already his season best. After getting just 1 offensive snap last week, Starks has seen a good amount of action so far.

Green Bay's passing attack for the most part has carried over from last week's performance in Chicago. The highlight of the half so far came on the Packers' third drive as Rodgers hit Jordy Nelson for 66 yards on a play-action throw that put them up 14-0. The Vikings haven't been bad on defense though, after Nelson's touchdown which came after an 8-yard score from Randall Cobb, they've forced to Packers to punt on three straight drives.

Rodgers is currently 9-of-12 for 112 yards, while the Packers have a total of 167 right now.

Bad

Christian Ponder

The name says it all, right? The Packers' defensive unit has completed shut down Minnesota's offense so far and put on a clinic in the second quarter. Green Bay has swarmed Ponder on nearly every play in the backfield and have pressured him on almost all of his throws. Mike Daniels, Letroy Guion, and Nick Perry have sacks respectively, and Julius Peppers returned his 10th career interception 49 yards for a touchdown (his third career INT for a touchdown). Ponder followed that drive up by thrown his second pick that was caught by Jamari Lattimore, the first of his career.

Ugly

Thursday Night Football

The Vikings committed three straight turnovers to end the half. The Packers have blown this game out of the water. Key stat: The average margin of victory on Thursday Night Football is 28.3, tonight proves it.

Do you like Thursday football? The Packers don't, but they're playing tonight anyway. Join us to discuss!

Three division games in twelve days? No problem, right? That's the situation the Green Bay Packers are in tonight, as they host the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday Night Football. Lambeau Field plays host to its second game of the year tonight as the fans drive up from Milwaukee for a Gold Package game tonight.

Josh Sitton thinks Thursday games are stupid. But that doesn't really matter now.

For the Vikings, they will be without starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater tonight, as he is inactive with an ankle injury. Christian Ponder starts instead, and has a passer rating of 76.6 in six career starts against the Packers.

For the Packers, a point of emphasis tonight will be the run game, both on offense and defense. The last-ranked run defense in the league wears Green and Gold, while Eddie Lacy and company rank 28th in the league in rushing yards.

Join the APC family this evening for the game, and Go Pack Go!

The Vikings are indeed rolling with Christian Ponder at quarterback this evening.

The inactive players for both the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings have been announced for tonight's game. As reported earlier this afternoon, the Vikings have inactivated quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and will roll with Christian Ponder as their starting quarterback this week.

For the Packers, no starters are inactive this week, though key backups at inside linebacker, defensive end, and wide receiver will sit out.

One interesting note is that even though inside linebacker Brad Jones is active this week, Jamari Lattimore will remain the starter at the right inside linebacker position. Apparently Jones' poor play against the Seahawks and Lattimore's solid job in relief the past three weeks made an impression on the Packers' coaches.

Defensive end Luther Robinson, who was added to the 53-man roster this afternoon, is indeed active today due to Josh Boyd's injury. Robinson will replace Boyd in the rotation on the defensive line, backing up Datone Jones and Mike Daniels.
